When you promise that your core principles are more than just words on a wall, you continually look for meaningful ways to personify and embody them. We do this because the principles are a vehicle for our end goal: developing empathetic citizens. The core definition of empathy never changes: the ability to understand others. Understanding begins with exposure, and so each year, our students and staff commit countless hours to initiatives big and small. Some projects are school-wide and have become embedded in our traditions; others are grade or division-wide, and may be sparked by a recent event our students want to respond to. The one thing these initiatives all have in common is that our students know we are passionately committed to giving back to our community.
