Grade 10 students spend one morning each year volunteering with Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK). BB4CK is an opportunity for the entire grade 10 student body to work together. Our students first gain insight into the lives of other families, and see the immediacy of their impact as the 600-900 lunches they spend the morning making are shipped out to schools to feed other kids across Calgary that same day.
This program also introduces students to entrepreneurship, as they build a business plan for fundraising for BB4CK. The two homerooms pitch their plan “Dragons’ Den” style, and when our judges pick the winner, the students then get to put that plan into action. Their efforts have been incredibly successful, and have raised more than $5,000 over the last four years.
